I received a call from an old client of mine to ask us if we could carry out a Bang & Olufsen service call and investigate a buzzing sound that had developed on his Bang & Olufsen BeoSound 9000 CD player with BeoLab 8000 speakers.
We visited his home where we noticed the buzz on the speakers ourselves. We found that there was lots of electrical interference from other electrical items in the room.
We planned to replace the standard Powerlink cable with double shielded Powerlink MK3 cable that is used on the BeoLab 5 cables. After replacing the cables and rerouting them on the wall behind the installation we noticed a significant decrease in the buzzing noise, unfortunately it was still present though. We have requested that they be removed and booked into the service department to check that there has been no long term damage to the speakers since the electrical interference.
Once the new cabling had been installed we were asked to install an Audio Switch. In this installation it allows our client to switch between various different audio sources in the room.
He is now able to switch between:
- Apple Airport Express (For Airplay from his iPhone)
- Stereo Audio Cable (Direct connection for iPod)
- DSTV
- DVD Player.
All audio sources are now available through his Bang & Olufsen system.
We also connected a BeoLab 3500 to his lounge so that he can listen to all his favourite music via Bang & Olufsen Masterlink.
All is working well again and our client is very happy with the installation.
