THE BRIEF

A Bang & Olufsen upgrade to our first installation carried out over 7 years ago!

As a company Mirror Edge Networks started installing and servicing audio and television systems way back in 2012. In 2013 a client of ours from a previous company asked us to move his Bang & Olufsen system from his old house in Newlands to his new house in Constantia, we were happy to oblige. At the same time as the equipment relocation we also booked the television into our service department for a clean. Fast forward to 2020 and it was time for todays Constantia Bang & Olufsen upgrade to the installation and give the television another quick service clean.

You can read more about the original Bang & Olufsen installation here:
Constantia Bang & Olufsen installation

Our installation today was focused around the installation of a Bang & Olufsen motorised wall bracket for the BeoVision 7-40 television. Most importantly with this installation was finally installing the BeoLab 7-2 center channel speaker that is designed to work with the BeoVision 7-40 television. The installation process started off with completely stripping down the installation, removing excess cabling and giving the equipment cabinet and tv unit a clean. We were then onto the process of mounting the new motorised wall bracket to the wall and re-installing the television.

Once the television installation had been completed we chose to completely re-calibrate the audio settings as well as the motorised wall bracket. Its amazing what a simple reset and fresh calibration of a television and audio system can do. The sound is as great as the first day that we carried out the original installation.

After we had completed the Bang & Olufsen installation, we carried out the installation of 2 new Sonos Play One speakers in our client’s braai room. These replaced his Bose multiroom speakers that we installed 7 years ago. While the Bose speakers worked well and offered great sound, the whole house has used Sonos as the multiroom audio platform since the original installation, so it just made sense to upgrade to a unified speaker system which only requires power to the speaker location. The WiFi system installed in the house is a UniFi Ubiquiti wifi system, which is what we have been using for years too.

Overall the day of service work on site and calibration took us just 4.5 hours and has breathed new life into our clients television and audio listening experience.
