The Ultimate M&K 150 series home cinema demonstration room!
We were kindly invited to visit the demonstration home cinema of Seriously Cinema in London, UK. In the home cinema demonstration facility there are 2 Miller & Kreisel (MK Sound) home cinema rooms setup. These 2 showrooms showcase the core focus and competency of the M&K speakers.
This is the smaller of the 2 cinema rooms, focused on the 150 series speakers.
This room is laid out in a 7.2.4 Dolby Atmos configuration, featuring the 150 series speakers all round, with 2 X10 subwoofers.
The front sound stage is 3 x IW150 speakers.
The surround speakers are 4 x IW150T speakers
The Atmos speakers are 4 x IW150A (at the time of our visit, these speakers had just been launched)
The processing of this home cinema is by a Trinnov Altitude 16 surround sound processor.
All amplification in this home cinema is Lyngdorf Audio
Due to the speaker remapping, time alignment and optimiser in the Trinnov processor, the playback of Dolby Atmos audio is incredibly transparent. There is no way to localise where the speakers are located from any of the 5 demonstration clips that we watched while in the home cinema demonstration room. The use of the new M&K IW150A speakers for Atmos speakers provided plenty of power and dynamic range to reproduce lifelike effects overhead, once again, without being able to determine where the speakers were.
The anchor of the room was certainly the power and precision of the 2 x M&K X10 subwoofers. The bass and low frequency reproduction was accurate and powerful. Any scenes featuring seat shaking bass lived up to its expectation, while having the speed to maintain accurate sound after any effects had taken place.
This home cinema room has definitely showcased the power of using M&K speakers with Trinnov processing and what is possible when integrating the different equipment to deliver a high quality home cinema room.
