THE BRIEF

We have been very fortunate to carry out a whole house audio, video and network installation for one of our regular Bang & Olufsen clients.
The conversation about this project started back in 2016 when our client had purchased the property for their new house.
Over the past 2 years we have been involved with all aspects of the home technology solution, including the network and provision for fibre. Ensuring that wifi would be accessible throughout the whole house and making sure that their existing Bang & Olufsen equipment would be completely integrated throughout the house.

Our approach to the houses AV system was centred around 2 key elements:

  • High speed wifi and network througout
  • Simple, easy to understand Crestron control for all rooms

All audio, video and network equipment has been housed in a wall mounted equipment rack in the garage to ensure that it is out of the way of day to day life, but installed in a suitable place that servicing is easy with enough space to work if anything is required.

The rack includes:

  • High Definition video matrix
  • DSTV decoders
  • Apple TV’s
  • Crestron control system
  • Araknis Router, Network switch, Wifi
  • Network controlled Power Distribution Unit (PDU)
  • Anthem MRX 1120 AVR for Lounge surround sound

All rooms feature High Definition or Ultra-High Definition televisions and Crestron handheld remote controls.

A unique approach to the multiroom audio / video distribution was taken as all rooms feature televisions. So the audio from the Bang & Olufsen CD player or digital music player are available on all televisions. This is particularly useful for the rooms that have Bang & Olufsen speakers connected to Bang & Olufsen televisions.

A showcase of the project is the lounge where a Bang & Olufsen BeoSound 9000 CD player provides audio for the whole house. The lounge also features Bang & Olufsen floor standing speakers which are driven by an Anthem MRX 1120 surround sound AVR. Dolby Atmos will be a feature in this room once our client has settled into their house.

To wrap up the whole system, remote management via the Araknis OVRC cloud management platform is enabled. This ensures that the system can be rebooted or any fault finding may take place remotely from our office at any point in time.
