THE BRIEF
A complete audiovisual and connectivity upgrade designed to make a Bakoven apartment easier to enjoy in every room.
What began as a television upgrade developed into a coordinated whole-apartment system. Mirror Edge Networks improved the network and Wi-Fi, expanded the Sonos multiroom audio, installed surround sound in both the lounge and main bedroom, and mounted the televisions so they could be positioned for comfortable viewing while remaining easy to service.
The result was not simply newer equipment. It was a more useful, reliable and intuitive entertainment system for the entire apartment, including the kitchen, dining area and outdoor pool deck.
The Brief
The apartment needed an audiovisual refresh that would work naturally for everyday living. Reliable connectivity was essential, music needed to move easily between indoor and outdoor areas, and the two principal televisions required better sound and more flexible viewing positions.
Because the property was already complete, each improvement also had to work with the existing architecture and cabinetry. The emphasis was on thoughtful upgrades, tidy installation and straightforward operation rather than visible technical complexity.
Whole-Apartment Network and Wi-Fi
A dependable home network and Wi-Fi system formed the foundation of the upgrade. Coverage was planned across the apartment so that streaming, control and everyday connectivity could remain consistent from the bedrooms and living spaces through to the outdoor entertainment areas.
Approaching the network as part of the wider AV system helped every connected service work together more reliably and gave the apartment a stronger platform for future upgrades.
Sonos Multiroom Audio
Sonos multiroom audio extended music beyond the lounge to the kitchen and dining area, with an additional zone serving the pool deck. Each space could be enjoyed independently or grouped with the others when music was wanted throughout the apartment.
This gave the property a flexible audio system suited to quiet everyday listening as well as entertaining, without requiring complicated controls or prominent equipment in every room.
Television Installation with Thoughtful Flexibility
The lounge received a 65-inch Samsung UHD television, while the televisions in both the lounge and main bedroom were installed on Vogel’s pull-and-turn wall brackets. These premium mounts were chosen for reliability as well as the practical freedom they provide.
In the lounge, the screen can be turned away from glare and angled towards the preferred seating position. In the main bedroom, the television can be directed towards the bed. Pulling either screen forward also provides much easier access to cabling and connections behind it, making future service work cleaner and less disruptive.
Surround Sound in Two Rooms
Dedicated surround-sound AV receivers were installed for the lounge and main bedroom, giving both televisions a more immersive experience than television speakers alone could provide.
In the lounge, the front speaker arrangement was improved with an M&K LCR soundbar mounted directly beneath the television. This positioned the three front channels correctly in relation to the picture and delivered clearer, more focused dialogue and sound.
Simplified Control
The apartment’s control experience was streamlined around a Crestron HR150 handheld remote. Bringing the key functions together reduced the number of separate remotes required and made the lounge system more approachable for regular use.
As with every successful home automation and AV integration, the value was not simply in connecting the equipment, but in making the finished system feel predictable and easy to operate.
Project Scope
- Whole-apartment network and Wi-Fi installation
- Sonos multiroom audio in the kitchen and dining area
- Independent outdoor audio for the pool deck
- 65-inch Samsung UHD television in the lounge
- Vogel’s pull-and-turn television brackets
- Surround-sound systems in the lounge and main bedroom
- M&K LCR soundbar correctly positioned beneath the lounge television
- Crestron handheld control for simplified day-to-day use
- Accessible, serviceable cable management
The Result
The completed system turned a focused television upgrade into a far more capable whole-apartment installation. Strong Wi-Fi supports connected living throughout the property, Sonos carries music across the indoor and outdoor entertainment spaces, and two dedicated surround systems improve viewing in the rooms where it matters most.
The adjustable television mounts are a small but important detail: they improve viewing angles, help manage glare and make the installation easier to maintain. Together, these choices created an apartment that is simpler to use and better equipped for both everyday relaxation and entertaining.
