THE BRIEF
Showroom visit, Basingstoke, UK · September 2022. During a day at the Habitech Experience Centre, Mirror Edge Networks experienced this Wisdom Audio media-room demonstration. The room was designed and built by the showroom team, not by Mirror Edge. We photographed it to show how immersive sound can be integrated into a comfortable, everyday living space.
A media room that still feels like a room
The photographs show a television-led lounge rather than a dark, dedicated cinema: generous seating, low cabinetry, discreet lighting and a slatted feature wall all contribute to the interior. The technology is present when it is wanted, but the space does not feel dominated by equipment.
Morgan’s notes from the visit describe a 7.2.2 Wisdom Audio loudspeaker system powered by Arcam processing and amplification. That means seven listener-level channels, two subwoofer channels and two overhead channels. We have not retained a model-by-model speaker list, so this article records the configuration and design ideas rather than presenting an exact current product specification.
What the visit illustrates
A media room needs to balance film sound with ordinary daily use. Screen placement, seating distance, speaker positions, lighting and the way equipment is concealed all matter. A thoughtful layout can deliver enveloping audio without requiring the room to look like a commercial cinema.
The right solution for a client’s home might use different speakers, processing or a different channel count. We start with how the room will be used, then specify the system around its architecture, practical constraints and desired level of performance.
