Anthem AV is a Canadian company focused on delivering high quality electronics for your home cinema that works with your room to give you the best experience possible.
When one thinks of consumer electronics products, one country generally comes to mind: Japan. Home to industry giants such as Sony, Pioneer, Panasonic and Sharp, chances are you have several A/V devices from a Japanese manufacturer somewhere in your home. While most Canadian Audio Video manufacturers can’t compete on a quantity level with their Japanese counterparts, the country is home to several companies who regularly turn out products near or at the top of their class in terms of quality, workmanship and reliability, Anthem AV is one of such companies which we are proud to represent and work with.
A few of the reasons that we enjoy working with Anthem AV is as follows:
- Anthem Room Correction (ARC)
- Toroidal power supplies
- Comprehensive support for surround sound processing
- High quality video processing
- Great customer support
We will briefly explain why Anthem Room Correction and their toroidal power supplies are so important:
Anthem Room Correction
An introduction to the different technologies are as follows:
(Quoted from Anthem AV)
“One reason is probably our advanced proprietary technologies, like ARC (Anthem Room Correction), the industry’s leading audio optimizer. Pros love its accuracy, and casual listeners love the profound results of its easy interface. The non-invasive Advanced Load Monitoring (ALM) circuitry in our amplifiers constantly monitors temperature, current and voltage to ensure optimum long-term performance.”
How it works
The room correction occurs in three steps:
- Measure the room’s response to test audio output sent to the speaker
- Fit the digital filter as calculated for the room correction
- Implements the room correction in real-time via a digital signal processor in the AVR.
This process is measured and implemented when the audio video receiver is setup, this is called the home cinema calibration process. Why this is important is that it corrects the audio response of the speakers so that they accurately playback the sound intended by the movie maker no matter how your room is shaped or treated.
Toroidal Power Supply
Without getting too technical:
A toroidal power supply means it has a very large inductor Coil, this improves the ability of the power supply to resist fluctuations in output. A stable power supply output means the amp can maintain it’s rated output power under heavy load conditions. These power supplies are also generally more efficient and less susceptible to electrical interference. Due to their design they tend to have more surface area so can run cooler or else handle more power, which is exactly what you want in a good power amplifier.

The basis of Anthem’s approach to AV processing is that all technologies are implemented into all of their models as much as possible. This means that the technical differences between the MRX 720 MRX 1120 and the AVM 60 are down to the amount of amplifiers available for each unit. The obvious difference is that the AVM 60 is simply for processing with no amplification available. This is not to say that the MRX 520 is the odd one out, but they have tailored the types of processing available within the AVR to the specific needs of a 5.2 surround sound AVR.
The Anthem home cinema amplifiers compliment all models of their home cinema processor ranges perfectly, we would engender to discuss these with you personally during the design process of your home cinema design.
