August 2014

Welcome

We aim to send out our monthly newsletter towards the end of each month.
This month is no different, just a quick review of what we have been getting up to at Mirror Edge Networks.

Recently we have been out with our photographer, Jon-Erik Munro visiting clients and photographing our recent installations. As can be seen above with a preview of our latest shoot. A Bang & Olufsen installation in Cape Town.

Some of the photos are not as professional, but equally informative. We have posted information with photographs on our website about High Definition Video Distribution as well as Systems Rack building.
Links to relevent articles on our blog are attached to all the pictures. So please head through and take a look.

As always, if you have any questions, please email me and I would be happy to answer them for you. If you have received this email and you would like to be removed from my Newsletter, please let me know. I wouldn’t like to inconvenience you.

I hope you enjoy.
Yours Sincerely,

Morgan Irwin

Crestron Remote Control 007

We visited a client of ours whose upgrade we carried out earlier this year to make a few changes to his tastes. It is easy to see why he was happy to upgrade his entertainment system to include a properly configured Crestron control system.

With the correct planning we were able to install a single Crestron remote control in 3 rooms of the house, replacing a basket full of remote controls which included:

  • DSTV Remote Control
  • Panasonic Plasma TV remote
  • Egreat Media player remote
  • Blu Ray DVD player remote

We also added some new devices to the multi-room video distribution system, including:

  • Apple TV’s
  • Custom built XBMC Media players
  • Security camera (CCTV) integration
  • New surround sound Audio Video Receiver in the media room

All controlled by Crestron MLX-3 remote controls.

Bang & Olufsen Service Call 20 August 2014

I received a call from an old client of mine to ask us if we could carry out a Bang & Olufsen service call and investigate a buzzing sound that had developed on his Bang & Olufsen BeoSound 9000 CD player with BeoLab 8000 speakers.
We visited his home where we noticed the buzz on the speakers ourselves. We found that there was lots of electrical interference from other electrical items in the room.

Understanding DSTV High Definition Expansion

DSTV have announced that they are expanding their High Definition offering.
This is an introduction to the changes in the DSTV High Definition offering.

To understand this we have summarised it as follows:

Each DSTV package has access to different channels. To date, each package contains channels which are available in Standard Definition, as well as High Definition. If you are using a High Definition decoder connected to a High Definition television you will have access to the High Definition channels which are offered on your package.
